DETAILED OF 4 DAYS BWINDI & LAKE BUNYONYI SAFARI

Day 1: transfer to Bwindi impenetrable national park

Wake up as early for breakfast at your hotel in Kampala or Entebbe, meet your safari driver who will brief you about the safari and at exactly 07:30 you will set off on your journey heading to Bwindi impenetrable national park. On your way you will have a stopover at the equator landmark for memorable pictures, en-route lunch in Mbarara town and a visit to Igingo Museum for a cultural tour. Proceed on your journey to the park enjoying the steep contoured tilled Kigezi hills, arrive in the park in the evening, check into your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 2: mountain gorilla trekking and batwa community visit  
wake early for breakfast and head to the park with packed lunch for a mountain gorilla trekking experience, you will go to the park’s headquarters for briefing about mountain gorilla trekking. The briefing is conducted by a ranger guide and you will be taken through the dos and don’ts while on this activity, you will be allocated a mountain gorilla group to trek then head into the jungle looking for mountain gorillas. Mountain gorilla trekking takes approximately 6 hours and when you find the gorillas you are allowed to stay for 1 hour in their presence. While in the presence of mountain gorillas, you will enjoying watching them play with each other, collect fruits and lives they eat as food and take amazing pictures. After the close encounter with these gentle giants, you will head back to your lodge and rest for a while. Later you will head to the batwa community for a cultural experience, in the batwa community you will experience various cultural and traditional practices of these people such as demonstration of hunting skills, building of homes using local materials, making of fire among others. In the evening you will head back to your lodge, have dinner and stay overnight.

Day 3: Explore Lake Bunyonyi

After breakfast you will checkout and set – off on a journey heading to Lake Bunyonyi the deepest lake in Uganda and the second deepest on African continent, the lake is referred to as  a place of many birds due to a huge population of birds found on the islands in the lake. Arrive in afternoon and have lunch at your lodge, in the afternoon you will go for a boat ride on Lake Bunyonyi. While on the boat ride you will explore various islands in the lake including the punishment island, sharp’s Island among others. On this experience you will learn more about the history of the islands and encounter a number of birds such as grey crowned crane, cuckoo, white tailed monad, slender billed baglafetch among others. In the evening you will head back to your lodge, have dinner and stay overnight.

Day 4: Transfer back to Kampala

Have early morning breakfast at your lodge, checkout and embark on a journey back to Kampala, on your way you will have lunch in Mbarara and when you arrive in Kampala you will be dropped off at your hotel or at the airport for departure flight back home.
