Detailed itinerary of 3 days Mgahinga gorilla trekking safari

Day 1: Travel to Mgahinga gorilla national park

To start your 3 days Mgahinga gorilla national park you will be picked from your hotel in Entebbe or Kampala after early breakfast by your safari driver-guide, after a short safari briefing about the day’s activity you will embark on a drive southwards heading to Mgahinga gorilla national park in the southwestern Uganda. On your journey you will enjoy sights of rural and semi urban towns of Uganda, market along the way selling fresh fruits and vegetables. You will have a stopover at the drum makers village to learn how to drums are made locally and at the equator monument for pictures and proceed to Mbarara where you will have lunch. When you arrive in Kisoro you will enjoy the green terraced hills usually referred to as the Switzerland of Uganda then proceed to the park arriving in  the evening, check into your lodge  for dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Gorilla trekking in Mgahinga gorilla national park

Today is the big day for the adventurous mountain gorilla trekking in the forests of Mgahinga gorilla national park, you will start your day with a full breakfast then be picked up by your safari guide and head to the park for a mountain gorilla trekking experience together with your packed. You will have briefing at the park’s headquarters where you will taken through the rules and regulations to follow during mountain gorilla trekking experience, at exactly 08:00 hours you will head into the jungle accompanied by a ranger guide looking for mountain gorillas. This activity last for about 5-6 hours depending on where the gorillas spent their last night, this activity is physically challenging due to the slippery trails and rugged nature of the landscape. When you locate the gorillas you will be blown away by the size of the gentle giants and for the mountain gorillas in Mgahinga national park, they have a thick fur coat due staying at high altitudes which is cold. For 1 hour you will enjoy watching the behavior, watch them play on tree tops, groom each and with a good camera you will take amazing pictures. After the experience you will trek back to you’re the park’s headquarters then head back to your lodge or rest for a while and go to an option batwa trail experience learning more the local batwa pygmy people. Late have dinner and stay overnight at your lodge.

Day 3: Transfer to Entebbe or Kampala

You will have breakfast then checkout of your lodge and embark on a drive back to Kampala or Entebbe, on your way you have en-route lunch and stopover at the equator for pictures. When you arrive in Kampala or Entebbe you will be dropped off at the hotel or at the airport for your departure flight back home.
